Who said periods happen to everyone? How does it feel to carry a strange diagnosis in your pocket and have the spotlight turned down there? How do you build your identity without ticking the predefined boxes imposed by society? This graphic novel tells, with great irony and humor, the story of Olivia and the Rokitansky syndrome—a rare congenital condition where the female reproductive system is only partially formed. The magic of the Rokitansky circus is that, on the outside, everything looks perfect: not a hair out of place and not even menstrual cramps are missing, but ladies and gentlemen, voilà: no periods, no uterus, no pregnancy!
The protagonist’s adventurous journey begins with a diagnosis handed to a teenager who grows into a woman, leading up to the joyful decision to have a child through Gestational Surrogacy (GPA). As they say in the circus, “ever more difficult!”
